Scelta Products in Yerseke is owned by Jos de Koster and Wilkon Boone. Jos and Wilkon started growing mushrooms nine years ago and produce and process 3500 tons of mushrooms a year. Fried mushrooms are a favourite regular food for many people in Europe. Customers in the retail sector take 80% of the fried mushrooms (of which 60% are in the UK and 40% in Germany, Austria and Switzerland). The remaining 20% of the mushrooms goes to customers in the food service segment. |
| At Scelta Products the mushroom frying process is totally automated. The final step is handled by a freezing unit which packs the deep frozen mushrooms in Octabins. The Octabins, which contain a waterproof bag, ensure the product is well protected during transportation.
